We are finally ready to share with you the much anticipated brand new family home of Mandie Wright, founder and designer behind Tailored Space Interiors. We have lots of photos to share with you, which may give you ideas for your own home.
Mandie will share with you her story behind the newly built family home nestled in the quiet coastal suburb of Casuarina Beach. She will share tips and tricks of the trade and all of the insight behind the materials selected within her home.
Welcome to my open plan kitchen, dining and living space. What we love most about this area of the home is the light. This room oozes so much natural light and also has amazing air flow.
Our open plan multi purpose space was designed with our small family top of mind. I wanted to be able to cook in the kitchen whilst watching Millie play with Ziggy or be swimming in the pool, which is adjacent to the kitchen. The beauty is, we can all be doing different things while still hanging out together.
The polished concrete floors have come up a treat, we are so happy with them, they are exactly how Adam and I wanted them to be. Cool but at the same time warm.....if that even makes sense!
Defining the zones were important to me as a designer, I wanted to put a lot of thought into the furniture layout. Our 'Brighton' modular sofa and Bayliss floor rug helps to define and create the living space.
The statement piece for me....mmmmmmm hard one. I would have to say two things within the 'living space' My 1930's English Oak chairs are an absolute favourite. They were once in Melbourne's Alfred Hospital's nurses quarters. I have had these beauties for many, many years and I now love the soft ice blue cotton blend fabric that we have had them re upholstered in. I also the love our 'Globe West' Presley coffee table, is a statement piece without being too much.
We have used French Oak flooring to create a "bentable" as Adam calls it. It's our table that is attached to our 'Smartstone' Island Bench. Copper pendant lights, black tapware and a copper tinted mirrored splash back all work well together. We love the mixtures of materials that have used. This helps in creating a warm feel to the open plan layout. Oh and of course the gas fireplace will add warmth over the winter!
We have dressed the louver windows and stacker doors with block out and reverse pleat sheer curtains, with a combination of white shutters for the double hung windows. I feel like this keeps it simple yet stylish.
I look forward to sharing more of our family home with you all soon.
